Recycling is a good idea but, yes the risk of data theft is always associated. Still the issue can be sorted once you wipe mac hard drive.
The process is as follows –
• Restart system with OS X disc inserted, press ‘C’ key with power button pressed till system starts booting from OS X disc
• Next from ‘installer’ menu, click “open disk utilities”
• Select hard drive and then click on erase
• Then choose ‘volume format’ and then “options”
• Check marks “zero all data”, OK and erase, with this data will be erased and drive will be filled with zeroes.
• Take the OS X disc and turn off the system
Now, all data, files and folders are removed from the system and nobody can know it.
