Packet sync error while attempting to open mov file in virtual dub?

I tried to open mov file in virtual dub as I wanted to edit the videos using this very powerful editor, its designed for Linux, so does it support windows or what since I tried several times, but it is not recognizing the format and is generating packet sync error.

spriyasen 		Virtual dub is a powerful video capturing and processing service and is compatible with windows platform, but you are unable to open it because virtual dub does not support it, it can read only MPEG files, so that is possible with mov converter. But, I don’t think packet sync error has anything to do with mov files, it the virtual dub does not support MPEG2 or the file is corrupted.
