Nikon camera SD card giving card not initialized error, what’s the problem?

It’s was our parents 25th anniversary and we all gathered together, I took hundred of photos with my Nikon digital COOLPIX S640. Next morning I switched on the camera, and it displayed “card not initialized error”, a great set back for me, then I connected it to PC for uploading but nothing showed up although more than half of the space was shown as full, a big hope for me, I can’t explain how precious those photos are for me. And I am searching for information about their recovery, can any one help me?

jennifer 		Your camera is displaying card not initialized error, it simply means that the SD card of the camera has corrupted. But you can still get photos back as corruption only makes the photos inaccessible, although they remain intact on their position, and the requirement in this case is of a mediatory tool that could retrieve photos from the card in accessible form, may be photo recovery software that scan the card and extract photos present on the card in user readable form. But before that you need to format the card, following instructions given in manual instruction. After format errors will be cleared off the camera and by executing recovery software photos can be recovered back easily.
