How to resolve SQL0298N Bad container path Error of DB2 database?

I have DMS tablespace named D_0012 which has 3 containers and hosts a single partitioned table. I just want to reduce the size of the first container (p1data/tbspace/D_0012) and to perform this action I have used the command alter tablespace D_0012 reduce (FILE ‘/p1data/tbspace/D_0012’ 112). But it failed with an error message which says – SQL0298N Bad container path, SQLSTATE-428B2. This error doesn’t make any sense to me. Please help me out, any help will be appreciated.

mariajohn 		What is the description of the error message says, I guess it is related to the permission issue. If I look into your error message output I see that D_0012 is only read/write for user oip and it has to be read/write accessible to the instance id. One possible reasons of this command failure may be that it must be trying to reduce the size of the container named ‘/p1data/tbspace/D_0012’ on all partitions and since this container only exists in one partition you need to try another command. Try – alter tablespace D_0012 reduce (File ‘/p1data/tbspace/D_0012’112) and see if it works. And if the problem still persists then try DB2 Database Repair software to repair the database and then execute the commands.
